Programs | FCM Study and Practice Curriculum3. Deepening Understanding: The Wisdom PathIf we consider ourselves to be soul mates of the Buddha, to be real students of the Buddha, we should take his advice and not go looking for our homeland, our true home, in time and space. We should look for this true home right within our own self, within our own heart; where there is everything we are searching for. The Wisdom Path is for experienced practitioners who wish to move beyond concepts to directly realize the understanding that is the fruit of deep meditative practice. Since our minds are the basis for understanding reality, it is imperative that we realize its true empty nature, which includes thoughts, emotions, consciousness and awareness. Drawing from the deepest teachings of Buddhism - the direct path of Zen/ Chan, the nondual awareness of Dzogchen and Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings on Interbeing - the Wisdom Path invites us to experience the freedom that is our true heritage and with proper preparation always available. Inspired and informed by his Zen training with Roshi Philip Kapleau, his heart connection with his primary teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, and his study of Dzogchen with Tibetan master Dzongnang Rinpoche, Fred transmits the Wisdom practices and gives personal guidance primarily through group and individual solitary retreats. In addition, Fred will periodically offer wisdom teachings through public talks and Sutra Study programs. Links to recordings of certain of these talks are provided below. Please check the FCM Calendar for the schedule of upcoming Wisdom Path programs.
