Mindful Yoga
Every Monday Evening, 5:30 - 6:45 pm, Tampa Practice Center
Mindful Yoga is a gentle yoga class in which students will be guided through a series of postures which may be seated, reclined, or standing. The class will move at a slow pace, with clear instruction of each posture and the breath. The course aims to empower, draw the attention inward, and develop body awareness. We offer a safe, effective, compassionate, non-competitive environment that is welcoming to all. No prior yoga experience required. Also, flexibility, balance, and strength are outcomes of a yoga practice and not prerequisites to begin. This class currently meets on Monday evenings 5:30 – 6:45 at the FCM Practice Center in the Lotus Hall, which is in the Education Building.
There is no charge for this class, but donations are gratefully accepted. All are welcome regardless of ability to contribute.
Qigong and Tai Chi
Every Wednesday Evening, 6:00 - 7:00 pm, Tampa Practice Center
Qigong (pronounced "chee gong") is Chinese yoga and meditation that involves gentle but surprisingly effective ways of moving and caring for the mind and body. Tai Chi (pronounced "tie gee") is a form of Qigong that focuses more on sequences of movement/form. Both use low-impact exercises drawn from Daoism, Buddhism, traditional Chinese health practices, and even Asian martial arts traditions. Sessions include 50 minutes of simple warm-up exercises and short movement forms to stretch the body and allow the Qi to flow more effectively. Appropriate for beginners and people with more experience. This class currently meets on Wednesday evenings 6:00 – 7:00 at the FCM Practice Center in the main meditation hall, or outdoors, weather permitting.
There is no charge for this class, but donations are gratefully accepted. All are welcome regardless of ability to contribute.
