This half day is open to everyone, whether you are just beginning to meditate or have been meditating a long while. Individuals in Recovery programs and anyone else are warmly invited to attend. The theme for the day will be Acceptance.
We’ll have guided meditations with instructions, related talks, and Q&A. At 12:30, we'll break for fellowship and lunch. Please bring your own vegetarian bag lunch.
The day will be led by Ruth Fishel and Lee Purser.
Ruth is the author of A Time for Joy; The Journey Within: A Spiritual Path to Recovery; and her newest book, Time for Me. She is a retreat and workshop leader and teaches for Meditation in Recovery. Ruth has been meditating and sober for over 35 years.
Lee Purser has been meditating for over 25 years. She attended teachings by the Dalai Lama in the USA and in Dharamsala, India for 12 years, and participated in a 3 summer training with Pema Chodron. Lee has taught meditation and Buddhism for over 10 years In the USA and India. She is certified to teach Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) and was a teacher and on the Board of Insight Community of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA. She is a teacher for Meditation in Recovery at Florida Community of Mindfulness, where she is currently a member. Lee is a retired PhD in Psychology.
