This workshop is a unique opportunity to observe an Ikebana Headmaster at work, and to experience the contemplative aspects of Ikebana. Ikebana Headmaster Dr. Ric Bansho Carrasco will demonstrate 3 introductory Ikebana designs explaining the corresponding rules and meaning of each. Participants will then have the opportunity to create a design called Moribana, depicting a reflective pond. Dr. Ric Bansho will give feedback to each participant while the entire group listens and learns about the creation of these forms.

  • Observe an Ikebana Headmaster at work
  • Experience the contemplative aspects of Ikebana
  • Create Moribana design
  • See similarities, yet differences through other students’ floral expressions
  • See how minor or major material adjustment during individual feedback can align design with ikebana tradition

We will email you a list of materials and tools to bring.

Registration: 8:30

Workshop:    9:00 - 12:30

No CEU’s will be offered.
