Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation
Part 1: Intro, Breath & Body

Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation (Part 1) is a three-week course designed to support the practice of mindfulness, helping us develop the skills and attention to be fully present to our lives and to touch deeply each moment of living. It is intended for those new to mindfulness and meditation, as well as for those who want to review the basics and establish a more consistent daily mindfulness and meditation practice. The course includes basic mindfulness meditation instruction as well as an exploration of practical ways to bring mindfulness into daily activities.

This introductory course, Part I, is an introduction to mindfulness with gentle instruction for sitting meditation, walking meditation, deep relaxation and bringing mindfulness into daily activities. A second course in this series, Part 2, is for those who have completed Part 1 and who seek a continued exploration of mindfulness with a focus on awareness of emotions, thinking and the mind as a whole, with further integration of mindfulness into our daily lives. Please check our FCM calendar for Part 2 offering dates.

The potential of these practices is to bring more awareness, calmness and peace to our busy lives, and at a deeper level to enrich and transform the way we live.

Part I Learning Objectives:
  • Practice the basics of mindful meditation with instruction and guidance for sitting meditation, walking meditation and deep body relaxation
  • Systematically explore mindfulness of breathing, the body and physical sensations
  • Establish and maintain a daily meditation practice
  • Bring mindfulness into activities throughout your day
This three-week course will begin on Tuesday, September 9th, 2014 and meet each Tuesday, through September 23, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Classes will be held at the FCM Practice Center, 6501 N. Nebraska Avenue, in Tampa. The cost is $40 for all three sessions. If you have questions, please contact us at info@floridamindfulness.org.
